Jia Yun
Such serial products designed by Jia Yun, an associate professor in the fashion design department of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, are closely related to the concept in which she always pursues. Also, she has made long-term effort in studying environmental protection and sustainable development, as well as design education.
She joined the international sustainable research organization helping women in remote areas to earn their living by themselves and advocated "equal business". Weaved straw bags is one of the accomplishments---the knitting flowers on the bag are all hand made by women in Nanling National Park. There are seeds from Nanling in the bag. Proceeds from sales of these bags will go to women in Nanling. Buyers of this product not only support the living of women in remote areas but also environmental protection.
After being used for years and worn out, the straw bags can be buried in the earth and become fertilizer that provides nutrition for the seeds to grow and extend its life. The silk scarves and shawls also act as advocators for environmental protection since they are made of the residual cloth of high class clothing. Applying the flower patterns ingeniously, our designer made a series of elegant colorful silk scarves.
